William F. Powers, Jr.

Bill has been practicing law for over 39 years, starting his first
trial almost immediately after his admission to the bar on
January 7, 1971.  He has the highest (AV) Martindale Hubbell
ethical and proficiency rating possible. His seminal employment
background was in title insurance, lending and real estate
development. His practice is limited to real estate and business
matters, commercial landlord-tenant and construction related
litigation. He is a member of the San Fernando Valley,
California, US District Court Central and U.S. Supreme Court
Bars. He  has served as a Mediator, Arbitrator, Settlement Officer,
Discovery Referee and Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles
Superior Court. He has taught numerous credited continuing
legal education courses for the C.E.B. and S.E.S. and has
authored numerous published legal articles.  He has lectured for
years on real estate issues and has also taught graduate level
real estate law at C.S.U.N.  His law school education was at
Loyola Law School here in Los Angeles (J.D. 1970), where he
was a member of the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society and
served as Chairman of the Student Bar.  His college education
was at Santa Monica City College (A.A. 1965) and UCSB (B.A.
English with a History minor, 1967), Dean's List for both schools.  
He is the third generation of his family to practice law.

Bill is an active civic volunteer.  He is a 2-term past Board
Chairman and still on the Executive Board of the United
Chambers of Commerce of the San Fernando Valley and is also
Past-President of the Chatsworth Chamber (4 terms, the longest
in its 95 year history). His volunteer board history includes:  
Habitat for Humanity, the L.A. Homeless Services Authority
(Board Chairman), Child Development Institute (Vice-Chair), the
Economic Alliance, Valley Vote (a primary Valley secession
spokesperson), the Chatsworth B.I.D. (co-founder and two-term
President), M.E.N.D., BUILD, PALS Youth Center Foundation,
Kiwanis and Rotary, among many others. He was a finalist for the
Fernando Award from 2001-2004.

In his spare time, Bill enjoys doting on his grandchildren, UCLA
Football, the Dodgers and Lakers, politics, public education
reform, art, music, bridge, chess, literature, writing, cartooning,
painting, surfing and boating.  There are three generations of
scratch golfers in his family, the latest being a pro.  He jokes that
the genes skipped over his generation.
